Discernment: College

The short view: The next class,
discussion, exam, date, game, movie, break. The long view: The finish
line – graduation, out in the world, on my own. The big question,
What am I going to do with my life?
Here’s another question:
What
grounds you in
what you’re
doing now or
whatever you do in the future?
For some of us, that anchor is FAITH.
It gives our life meaning. It helps us cope with the pressures of
life. It puts us in touch
with something bigger than ourselves.
Marists have chosen a life committed
to community and mission. We view what we do every day and what we
do in the world through
the
lens of love for God and God’s desire for peace and justice
in the world. Particular to our vocation – whatever our work
in education, parish ministry, counseling, community development – we
strive to communicate the spirit of Mary. That spirit is compassionate,
merciful, a constant support, and a unifying presence.
